Therapeutic Writing for Dynamic Times
(TWDT)*
For people who need therapeutic art in community.
(Yes, everyone.)
(Yes, I’m a therapist.)
Genocide. The after-effects of COVID’s social isolation. Trump. Public kidnappings. The rollback of rights.
And all of it while life keeps lifing: Menopause. Friend breakups. Earned growth. Illness. Loss. Joy. Firsts. Kids. Career stuff. Relationship stuff. Life stuff.
You’re invited to join a group where we write as poorly as possible just to get it out without being bogged down by our internal editor.
📝 We write so we know how we feel.
📝 We write so what we need can emerge.
📝 We write to say yes to the voice of our creative unconscious.
📝 Because it makes us feel like ourselves.
📝 Because we need art. We need truth. We need freeing, empathetic spaces.
And honestly—what else can we do right now with so much out of our control?
📔 We read what we write out loud to each other, so we can practice receiving kind eyes from strangers again.
📔 We read our imperfect writing to remind ourselves that we don’t have to be perfect to be seen and cared for.
📔 We read so we can hear ourselves.
📔 We read so we make it safe for others to show up too.
📔 We read and we listen—because empathy is what will save us.
We write because we need art.
We read out loud because we need art.
DETAILS
Therapeutic Writing for Dynamic Times is a 10-week group for non-writers, writers, beginners, journalers—for you.
We meet on Tuesdays from September 30 to December 9 at the following time:
3:30–5:30 PM Pacific
4:30–6:30 PM Mountain
5:30–7:30 PM Central
6:30–8:30 PM Eastern

FORMAT
We’ll be writing in the Wild Writing style taught to me by Laurie Wagner. Laurie said this once, “It takes a long time to unlearn how to be good.” and I think that’s the most important thing to know about her and this practice.
Each session, I’ll read you 3 poems (lucky you). Don’t worry, this won’t be poetry you don’t get. It’ll be accessible, alive, and full of inspiration. Then I’ll pick out lines from the poem and I’ll offer them as jump-off prompts to begin your brief writing.
Things like:
“I come from…”
“Here’s what I want you to know…”
“The people I love the best are…”
“I wanna ask myself some questions…”
You’ll write from that seed of inspiration, letting your words tumble out—poorly, quickly, without editing.
It doesn’t have to make sense. It just has to be true enough.
That’s it. That’s the practice.
Because I’m a therapist and it’s my way, I’ll also check in with you. We’ll have space for a little light therapeutic support. (You’re always welcome to book full sessions if you want deeper support—I currently have a few openings for new clients.
